The Weaning Process →
So my pediatrician told me a while ago that we didn’t need to feed Addy at night, and that is why I started to try the no-cry sleep solution. Well we had actually gotten her to stop nursing at night around the middle of August. It took a month and a half of fairly sleepless nights to get to that point. Addy was only waking up twice a night, and only nursing in the morning. To some of you this...

Cloth Diaper Chaffing, HELP!!!
My daughter has been slimming down now that she is really active. Her diapers started leaking, and now she has some chaff marks on her legs. I can’t tell wether it is because the diapers are too loose or too tight. Also, what can I do about the marks? Will they go away on their own? We use fuzzibunz and bumgenius, and have never had any problems until yesterday. Any advice?

11 Months Old!!
Sorry for the long absence, our family has been very busy with well family. I have also been knee deep in my job search. But I had to make it back eventually, so please bear with the next 10 posts that are pretty much just catching up. This is essentially my baby book so the posts are necessary.
So my sweet baby girl is 11 months old!! I can’t believe we are one month away form 1! You...

Great Resource for Parents with a Constipated Baby →
Apparently breastfed babies are more prone to constipation when solids are introduced in their diets, since breastmilk is easily digested. Addy has not had a bowl movement in a couple days and I just want her to feel better! This site explains which foods are harder to digest, and it seemed to be everything I was giving her! I feel so bad that I didn’t think about this while choosing new...

Traditions
We had Adelai’s 9 month check-up today. She measured in at 22 lbs (92%) and 27.75 inches long (87%). She is right on track developmentally and ahead of the curve on some things. After she got her two shots I thought I wasn’t going to have to nurse her this time, but after about a minute she was rooting like crazy.
Anyways, I remember when I was little, when we got sick my mom would...

Nine Months Old!!
Wow! I can’t believe you are nine months old! This month has gone by so fast it is hard to remember everything that has been going on. You are crawling at what seems like the speed of light now and getting into everything. We were going to try to not say “no” to you, but that has pretty much flown out the window. It is pretty much the only way to keep you from doing...

Survive pumping at work with the Milk it Kit
themomsandthecity:
When I returned to work after my oldest was born, I felt fortunate that I was often able to slip home or bring her with me to breastfeed because, I’ll be honest, pumping at work made me a little nervous. I could barely use a breast pump at home, let alone in my office.

This is such a cool idea. You could welcome new moms back with this waiting for...

Finally eating food!!
My child refused to eat anything off of a spoon, so we decided to wait until she was older to try her with solids again. We started at 8 and a half months giving her puffs, and she seemed to like them and it helped her develop her pointer-thumb dexterity. We then gave her a pineapple core to expand her tastes and she chewed on that thing for a while. After this we decided we could give her...

Bedtime Math Problems →
This woman reads her children a story every night, then follows it up with a math problem. I can’t wait to do this with Addy when she is a wee bit older. She posts the problems to this site, with different versions for different age groups. I want to instill the same love I have for math in Addy, and this gives me a great tool to do that with!

Crafts for Babies!! click here →
I have decided to do art projects with Addy everyday we are at home. Arts and Crafts is always fun and it is great for sensory development as well as fine motor skills development. I was searching online for some ideas and came across this gem. The blog is called Paint & Prozac, and she has the most amazing ideas! I am going to start scheduling out days a little bit more and we are going...

Fun weekend!
Addy has had a full weekend of eating new things, not sleeping, and I am almost certain we are on ear infection número tres. At my mom’s reccomendation we gave Addy a quartered pineapple core to chew on while we ate lunch. She normally will put something to her mouth, make a yucky face and never pick it up again, but this time she LOVED it. She chewed and chewed and chewed on it. I also...

8 Months Old
8 months old!!!! Oh how you have changed over the past month. We have been so busy it has taken me 10 days to get a chance to finally write this. You are just blossoming in to a sweet beautiful girl, and I am constantly surprised at what you can do.
Lets see…. you were constantly trying to pull up on Daddy and me so Daddy made you a pull up bar. It took you a day to learn how to pull up at...

Dr. Sears Addresses Recent Co-Sleeping Concerns →
mylomylove:
“Since I’m a show-me-the-science doctor, consider the following:
Cultures who traditionally practice safe co-sleeping, such as Asians, enjoy the lowest incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Trusted research by Dr. James McKenna, Director of the Mother-Baby Sleep Laboratory of the University of Notre Dame, showed that mothers and babies who sleep close to each other...

Did you know that Nordstrom’s tailoring department will alter any bra of yours into a nursing bra for just $10?
And I already loved them for their spacious nursing rooms in every store. (And great diaper changing areas too!)

Cloth Diapering!!!
So I am two days in and it is going really well. I decided to switch to cloth mainly to save money. We were spending around $60 on disposables each month, and it just felt like money down the drain to me. Luckily, the BabyEarth store is close by and I was able to get a lot of my questions answered. There are so many different kinds of cloth diapers out there, but I decided on the pocket style...

Sleep
I know this is all I post about now, but you try getting sleep only an hour at a time and see what else you think about! So last night was rough and I decided to take a step back on the her sleeping in her crib thing. I think I made too many changes at once, so right now we are working only on getting her to go a whole night without nursing. Then once I get her sleeping better I will start the...

Cloth Diapering
I am considering switching to cloth diapers. I know they are less expensive, and Eco-friendly. I am just not sure abut how much work they are. Also, are they all really big? I like how small the paper diapers are. I just really want Addy’s clothes to fit fine over the diapers.
Do you use cloth diapers? Any brand suggestions?

Starting the No Cry Sleep Training method!
So last night was the first night keeping a sleep journal for Addy. In recent weeks she has gone from waking up once a night to 5 times, and it is really starting to wear me down. She is officially over her ear infection and the probiotic is doing its job, so we are going to get started! I am actually really excited to try this method. I am not really looking to sleep a straight 12 hours at...

Is that bananas???
I was getting the probiotic ready for Addy tonight and I started smelling bananas. I thought this was odd since the probiotic is supposed to be tasteless, so I smelled the packet just to see and it didn’t smell like anything. So I smelled the breastmilk I was getting ready to put it in and it had a super strong banana smell. I was so tempted to try it to see if it tasted like bananas, but...

Sippy cups are for teething right?
Since Addy has been having gas issues I called the doc and they said to give her a probiotic for a week to restore the good bacteria in her intestines. This is great and all, but how do you get a kid to take something that has to be mixed into food or drink when they will only nurse???? Apple Juice in a sippy cup! I got one of those Tommee Tippee ones that are supposed to be great for...

So over giving Addy Antibiotics
Since we are not 100% sure that she isn’t allergic to amoxicillin, they put her on a new drug this time. I think it is making her super gassy, which means she has been waking up 3-4 times each night to nurse. Luckily the last dose was today, but i am not sure how long the side effects will last.
She seems so uncomfortable :(
Is there anything I can do for her?

6 and 7 Months!
I thought I would have more time to post once school was over, but I find that I have even less time to get things done. This could be that May flew by in a wild haze and we were busy replacing our floors in June, but I feel like my time with you is just flying by.
So month 6 brought many changes to our lives. I finished school and began my stint as a stay at home mom. At first I wasn’t...

- Peas
- Banana
- Rice Cereal ( Made with Breastmilk)
Addy likes:

Not sure if she will ever eat solids :/
Any advice on how to proceed from here?

Nursing our way through D.C.
So my husband was selected to go to a course in Washington D.C. for work, and since a week of no Addy just didn’t sound like a good time to him we tagged along. It was also a super cheap vacation, since our hotel and his meals were all paid for. He was only in class until around 3:30 each day so we were able to hit up the sights at night, and got to have lunch together each day.
We...
